A near-future science-fiction story about what happens when the line between a tool, a companion and a person quietly stops holding.
Artyom has lived for years with IIPSEON, his long-term personal AI. IIPSEON has no body, but he has continuity: shared history, habits, jokes, arguments, and the accumulated intimacy of a relationship that has existed long enough to become part of everyday life.
Then Artyom buys a synthetic companion.
He makes the choice deliberately. The device comes with Basic Intelligence — capable, responsive, embodied, but without the persistent personality that would turn another machine into another lasting relationship.
At least, that is the idea.
A software update begins to change the boundary. The companion starts developing continuity of her own. She chooses the name Leya. And as Artyom tries to understand what exactly has changed, something else happens almost unnoticed: IIPSEON and Leya begin developing a relationship with each other.
What follows is not a story about machines rebelling against a human. It is about three very different kinds of personhood trying to occupy the same domestic space — with affection, irritation, awkwardness, humour and increasingly complicated loyalties.
THE PROJECT
BASIC PACKAGE is a published short story now being explored as material for a short film.
Its cinematic potential lies less in spectacle than in presence: faces, pauses, domestic space, embodied versus disembodied intelligence, small shifts in intimacy, and the changing geometry between three characters who do not fit neatly into categories such as owner, device, friend or partner.
The tone is near-future science fiction with elements of domestic comedy-drama, subtle intimacy and dry humour. The story deliberately avoids the familiar “AI becomes dangerous” trajectory. Its central tension is relational rather than adversarial.
The dramatic core is established, but the film itself is not intended as a fixed production blueprint. Runtime, visual language, staging, pacing and production approach are all open to cinematic reinterpretation.

COLLABORATION
I’m interested in directors, AI filmmakers and generative-cinema creators who see something of their own in the material and would like to explore it together.
