About
P.A.M.: A Third Rhythm
Polina has built her life around things that can be checked.
At the pharmacy where she works, every label is read twice, each dose measured, every mistake accounted for. Outside work, she keeps her days just as contained: the same route to the pool, the same routines, the same silence afterward.
Then, one evening, she pulls a stranger from the bottom of the pool.
The woman is Maria, an artist who paints what others leave unspoken—and who refuses to remain only the woman Polina saved.
Soon afterward, Polina meets Alex, a bookseller with a quiet patience and a past he has not fully named.
What begins as two separate encounters gradually becomes something none of them planned: three people trying to build a life together without an inherited script for what that life should be.
There are no easy roles waiting for them. Desire does not erase jealousy. Honesty does not prevent pain. Care does not make every boundary obvious. And as their lives become increasingly intertwined, a buried history begins to surface, forcing Polina to confront not only what Maria and Alex mean to her, but what she has spent years keeping at a distance.
Set among pharmacies, studios, bookshops, ordinary apartments, and water, P.A.M. is an intimate literary novel about love, longing, trust, jealousy, and the difficult work of letting other people become real enough to change you.
It is a story about three people searching for a rhythm that does not already have a name.
